Roy started playing drums in New Zealand at the age of thirteen and soon after began playing for the Rotorua Country Music Club for many years. He joined his first cabaret band and started playing for a living at the age of fifteen and backed many famous New Zealand artists.
Roy has played many styles of music from 50's, 60's Rock & Roll, Country Rock, Country & Western, 70's, 90's Classic Rock, some Jazz, Old Time Dance and Music From Today.
Roy learned to sing solo while drumming and has performed backing harmonies for many artists and soon became the drummer for many big country music events and competitions.
Roy has also won many talent awards for singing solo, duo and group both in Australia and New Zealand and has written many original compositions after learning to play the guitar which are yet to be released.
When Roy came to Australia in 1988 he joined the Pioneer Country Music Club and became the resident drummer there for many years and helped the club to become one of the most recognised clubs in Australia taking out many club trophies. There he met Benjy Pocock and became the drummer/vocalist for the "Wild Turkey Band."
Michael King and Roy Morris met many years ago at the Toyota Gympie Muster and got together to perform as the "Michael King Band" regularly at venues eg.
The Treasury Casino (Brisbane), Seagulls (Gold Coast) and many R.S.L. Clubs around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Sydney and Roy even performed at the Buttercup Show at the Tamworth town hall with just his guitar.
Roy currently is performing as a solo artist, a duo with Michael King and is drumming in his own three-piece band "Stiff Bikkiez" which has also performed at the 2004 Toyota Frazer Island fishing comp.
